Is there a science GCSE and do I get only two GCSE’s for science?
Inevitably there is going to be a science GCSE. It is a fundamental core subject which will be tested in your exams. Each exam features a Higher tier and a Foundation tier. Teachers will be able to separate and focus more on students who will need the extra help in certain areas and topics, and identify which paper will benefit individual students most, in order to achieve the best of their potential.
Key units
There are two main areas of study for the science GCSE, they are:
Triple Award Science: Students study all three sciences and end up with three GCSEs.
Double Award Science: Students study all three sciences but end up with two GCSEs.
Majority of students in England follow the GCSE Double Award course, covering two-thirds of the content covered by Triple Award Science students. They are awarded two GCSE grades based on their overall performance across all three (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) science subjects.
